Torbin Chambers, Pail Painting
Get in touch with Pail Painting and you're talking directly to me, not an office or a salesperson. I price every job myself, carry out the work myself, and stay involved from the first site visit through to the final walk-round.
- Owner-operated: you deal directly with the person doing the work
- $1m public liability
- Fixed written price
One painter. One point of contact.
I’m Torbin Chambers, and Pail Painting is my business. I picked up a brush five years ago, set things up properly in 2023, and I’ve kept it owner-operated ever since. The person who comes to look at your house is the person who prices it, paints it, and walks round it with you at the end.
Most of what I do is residential repaints, inside and out, for homes around Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Otumoetai, Matua, Bethlehem and Te Puna, and up the coast to Katikati and Waihi Beach. I also take on renovations and new builds, and small commercial jobs where the place wants a careful hand rather than a production line.
How I like to work
I’d rather spend an extra day on preparation than come back in three years to sort out something that’s lifting. So the filling, sanding, sealing and priming all get the time they need before any colour goes near a wall. I’ve got trade accounts with Dulux, Resene and Aalto, which means I can pick the product for the surface it’s going onto instead of whatever happens to be in the van.
Why I keep it owner-operated
I take on fewer jobs at once than some outfits do, and now and then that means waiting a little longer for a start date. What you get back is someone who knows exactly what’s happening at your house, because I’m there doing it rather than running it from a desk. If the finish isn’t right, there’s nobody else for me to point at, and that’s the way I like it.
What I don’t do
Roofs, fences, decks, pergolas, wallpapering, gib stopping and kitchen cabinets. If what you need isn’t on my list I’ll tell you when you first get in touch, rather than leave you waiting on a quote that was never going to come.
